Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply, KEDS, has installed a new electricity network in Dujake of Gjakova Municipality. 111 families living in the area will benefit from this investment. 144 concrete poles of low tension and 20 poles of medium tension were installed as part of this project. In addition, 4.000 meter of cable for distribution of low tension and a new substation of 630 kVA were installed. The new network will significantly improve the quality of distribution, will decrease the losses in the network and it also offersmore stable tension. KEDS Spokesperson, Viktor Buzhala, said his company was working with higher intensity in Gjakova and in Kosovo in general, in order to modernize the old network. “In Dujake and in Kosovo in general, KEDS has inherited an old electricity network, so this investment was a priority for us. 144 poles were installed, as well as a new substation. 111 households will benefit from this investment,” he said. Buzhala said this investment was part of KEDS’s Master Plan, which provides for a modern electricity network in the whole country by 2025, a goal that will require investments amounting to around 300 million euro. Simon Kolaj, a resident in the area, said the investment was a necessity. “Everything was old here. The poles, cables and everything installed are working properly. This investment was necessary. We expect investments in the underground system as well,” he said. Mayor of Gjakova, ArdianGjini, welcomed the investments that KEDS is doing in this region. A few weeks ago he said he was pleased with the investments being made, which as he put it, fulfill the needs of the people living in villages and urban areas of the municipality he runs.
