Energy situation continues to be fragile, KEDS / KESCO is importing half of electricity in the country 27-11-2018

KEDS / KESCO wants to clarify to the public that the electricity situation continues to be unstable since Wednesday. Although for the moment there are no electricity interruptions, the energy system still faces little domestic production based on only two blocks, A4 and B2, and dependent on imports which continue to cover about 50% of consumption.

After the block A4 entry into production, for a short time block A3 comes out of production in unplanned way, while block B1 plans to return to production in the last days of month December.

Having in consideration that the electricity supply in Kosovo still depends on local (country) production, and the production in these days does not cover even half of the consumption, the whole other part is being secured / provided from import, since Wednesday when the blocks (units) are out of work.

Although KEDS / KESCO continues to import constantly since Wednesday of around 400 MW / hour, in value about 120 euros per MW. This amount when consumption is increased significantly is not sufficient. Even more this situation makes it difficult the theft of electricity which is unfortunately too high in some parts of Kosovo and as a result it causes to the energy system more load than the system can withstand.

KEDS KESCO wants to announce to the public that we already entered the cold months when the demand for electricity increases and the non-adequate functioning of one of the links in the energy system can unbalance it and consequently affect consumers.

KEDS entered the 6th year of operation. All financial revenues are invested and have remained in Kosovo. So Kosovo, and in this case consumers have benefited.

About 120 million euros have been invested in Kosovo during this period. Hundreds of thousands of consumers have already benefited directly. Investments are continuing even strongly during year 2018. This proves that KEDS / KESCO is here to create partnerships with everyone in order to move forward.

KEDS / KESCO is giving the maximum in this difficult situation for the energy system. We request from all parties to join and cooperate for the good of citizens, as we invite consumers to save in maximum in these difficult months of energy system.
