In order to advance the services of electric meter reading, KEDS has put into operation the use of the latest technological device of this type, known as UNITECH. This device replaces the now used device, "Hand Held Unit", which has been used since 2014.

"The advantage of this device, compared to the former device, is the entrance of additional data in its Android system, reading of the meter number through the barcode, use of camera, use of two 2G, 3G and 4G sim cards, and also the Bluetooth printer connected separately to it", says Flamur Kurtaj, manager for reading, billing and changing meters at KEDS. UNITECH devices are put into use after training professional staff for their use and testing.
The special feature of this device is that, in addition to meeting the highest technological standards of its kind, it also significantly improves the quality of service to the customer through accurate and fast meter reading, always minimizing possible errors to a large extent that may occur in such cases. Above all, it also detects possible misuse.
"The important feature of this device is the quality and speed to read electric meters. In case of any possible misuse of the meter, the device also has a camera for photographing the meter, for which, in such a case, the reader informs the relevant persons at KEDS", says Mr. Milazim Avdiu, Director of Operations at KEDS.
The development of the electric meter reading service application took about ten months. As such, it is a simple and easy-to-use application where additional data can also be added.

"Depending on the need, new features can be added to the Android application of this device", says Shqipdon Mehmeti, an application developer in the IT Department at KEDS.

KEDS will continue to seek the most sophisticated forms of service for its customers and facilitate the work of its field teams.
The UNITECH device is the second-meter reading device used by KEDS, the first one in 2013 when KEDS started operating as a company. The company immediately revolutionized the way of reading and invoicing consumers, by making the process and electronic and immediate. This minimized reading errors, shortened time, simplified procedures, and significantly increased transparency.
