KEDS reduces electricity losses to 12.67%
KEDS has managed to significantly reduce the level of losses in the electricity network during the first ten months of this year. Losses dropped to 12.67%, compared to 13.29% in the same period of 2024. This improvement of more than half a percentage point is a direct result of continuous field operations throughout this period focused on combating electricity theft, as well as the measures taken for network modernization and strengthening technical control.
The pizzeria from Lipjan that must pay a loss recovery of 14,000 euros, the gas station in Ferizaj that must pay over 27,000 euros as loss recovery, or the crypto miner from Suhareka who must pay nearly 44,000 euros in loss recovery, are among the hundreds of businesses KEDS caught misusing electricity—cases that contributed to the overall effect.
Reducing losses remains one of the company’s top priorities, as it is one of the most important performance indicators in the energy sector. Alongside continuous field operations, KEDS has also invested significantly in advanced technologies such as smart metering systems (AMI), SCADA, and the digitalization of network management, which enable early detection of irregularities and efficient intervention in the field.
Through the awareness campaign “Electricity costs you less when you pay for it”, KEDS aims to increase public awareness about the economic and legal consequences of electricity theft. The campaign emphasizes that energy is a public asset and stealing it harms the entire system, burdening the bills of honest citizens.
KEDS thanks consumers for their cooperation and ongoing support in the process of modernizing and stabilizing the electricity network. The company remains committed to continuing investments in infrastructure, transparency, and higher-quality services for the citizens of Kosovo, making the electricity network increasingly efficient, stable, and fair.
